About Robbi Carvalho

Robbi Carvalho is a multidisciplinary artist who weaves visual narratives through a distinctly female gaze. Her work harmonises women and nature into a singular entity, capturing real bodies and celebrating non-Eurocentric beauty while exploring the diversity and subjectivity of being a woman.

With a background in architecture and jewellery design, Carvalho brings a refined sense of structure and detail to her practice, constructing a dreamlike visual language. Her work is recognised for its intricate detailing, precise linework, and intuitive use of colour, all contributing to a distinctive artistic identity.

Originally from Brazil, Carvalho has lived in Portugal and Angola and now calls Aotearoa home. Based in her studio in Hobsonville Point, she works as a full-time artist.

She approaches her practice as a tool for mental wellbeing, with a focus on empowering women and fostering a deeper sense of belonging and self-worth.
